Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 October 2026
This policy explains what System Design Live (“SDL”, “we”) collects when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. SDL is operated by an individual based in India, who is the controller of your personal data.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address and Google account identifier, from Google Sign-In. We never see your Google password.
- Activity: the challenges you start, your workspaces and how long they run, builds, submissions and their results, streaks and badges.
- Workspace contents: code and configuration you write in a workspace, kept while the workspace exists.
- Subscription: your plan, its status and renewal dates, and the customer and subscription identifiers Paddle gives us. Card and payment details go to Paddle, not to us.
- Technical: IP address, browser details and request logs, used to run and secure the service.
Why we use it
- to provide your account, workspaces, grading and progress (performing our contract with you);
- to enforce plan limits and process your subscription (contract);
- to keep the platform secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interests);
- to understand which challenges work and improve them (legitimate interests);
- to meet legal and tax obligations (legal obligation).
We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Paddle — our reseller and Merchant of Record, which processes payments, tax and invoices under its own privacy policy.
- Google — for sign-in, and Google Cloud, which hosts the platform and its data (United States).
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Because our hosting is in the United States, your data is transferred outside India and the EEA, with the safeguards those providers offer.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (an httpOnly session cookie) and browser storage for preferences such as theme. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
Account and activity data are kept while your account is open. Workspaces are deleted when they stop. Subscription records are kept as long as tax law requires. When you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law. Backups roll off within two weeks.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email support@systemdesignlive.com from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
SDL is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update the date above when this policy changes, and email account holders about material changes.
